I’ve learned the hard way. I’ve been trying to deal with this awful “travel agency” for over a month and its giving me horrible anxieties.
First of all- they DO NOT speak english. Good luck trying to get your point across. The agency is obviously not located in the US! Therefore, they DO NOT work by American standards.
After an emergency occurred and I had to leave early back home (I’m an international college student in the US), I called them to say I had to reschedule my flight home. They said they’ll check and call me back. They never called me back- THEY NEVER EVER CALL BACK! so after I had to call them back the guy told me it’ll be $5000 to reschedule. So I asked him if I can just get another flight and just come back with the second leg and he said OK! so thats what I did, I bought a new flight and came back home to be with my family only to realize that the guy gave me WRONG information.
apparently, if I don’t get on the first leg of the flight in Alitalia, the second leg is cancelled. Now, I understand that its airline policy, but the agent gave me wrong information when I asked him if I could do that. I wouldn’t buy a new ticket if I had the right information. At first, they didn’t believe he gave me the wrong information because supposedly all the agents are knowledgeable. I ended up taking to their supervisor, who admitted, after listening to the recorded conversation, that the agent told me it was fine to get another flight and that the flight back will still be available for me!! He then said it was a “miscommunication” (no miscommunication here, the agents simply don’t understand english).
Needless to say, because they don’t work by US standards, they could not care less that the agent gave me wrong information, and won’t make it right by giving me a flight back. The “supervisor” doesn’t answer emails and every time I call he’s gone or on a break (of course they promise they would call me back- but they never ever call me back!!! and I called them about 10 times).
So here I am, supposed to be enjoying my time with my family but instead I’m having anxiety attacks thanks to travel merry. I work so hard for every dollar I make, and this was supposed to be my reward for working so hard at school. I’ve waited so long to see my parents and siblings but I just can’t help but worry about all the hard earned money I lost because I chose travel merry.
I never go online to review bad services, but the experience I had with them is by far the worst I’ve had in my life. I just don’t know how to make it right, I am so frustrated. I hope I was able to convince even one person to not buy from them, because these people don’t deserve your hard earned money.
Update: Skyscanner contacted me (as I booked the flight through their site). Skyscanner spoke to Travel Merry, but they only reimbursed me for 50% of what I paid. By the way, they reimbursed me a day after Skyscanner contacted them, while I was trying to reach them for months with no answer.
