February 2020 in Ho Chi Min City
. I am caught up in this one as I type. Classic target, I was walking outside my Hotel, The Rex, 5 star and very comfortable. About to walk to the Tallest building in Saigon, to the 49th floor and take some photos. A Philippino
lady, somewhere around 35 years old, struck up a conversation with me. She was quite attractive and spoke good English. I travel extensively in India
and SE Asia, I am a target species for these scams and I have a lot of fun with them. My scam meter was in the red. I have met her sister in a neutral cafe and we have set a date to visit her home and have lunch with the family. She has a Sister in Melbourne
, which I doubt, working in a Hospital that does not exist in Melbourne, It's a Sydney Hospital. The pair of them are trying to manouver me into a corner somehow and it's like a game of chess. I have set a challenge to get the little scammer into the sack before we go any further. It's only a challenge unfortunately, if she can get past the security at the Rex and arrive at my room door I will have her thrown out. I win !!! If I can't get that result I just confront her with the facts and no one wins.... I am 72, I just wish I had this knowledge when I was 42, what fun I could have had then. Just beware travellers, backpackers, single girls, old, overweight men and drunk youths are all target species for these scams. The biggest risk in life is not taking a risk, just calculate the odds in your favour.
