My iPhone was stolen from my crossbody bag on the metro in Athens a few months ago. We took cabs after that evening.
It was zipped in the flap of my crossbody purse, which I usually keep my hand on. We got on a crowded metro car, standing room only, an older guy got on right behind me (smelling like beer) and bumped into me several times to distract me while (I assume) a partner was behind me stealing my phone.
Apparently the thieves took my SIM card, put it in another phone and made the equivalent of 8 continuous days of international calls ($11k). ?
