Trying to buy a ticket and having a problem I was approached by a sweet elderly lady who had been standing in line behind me. She kindly “helped” and once the transaction was completed she demanded money. She then disappeared into thin air and I was left with a ticket printed in Italian with no platform details etc. Up comes another friendly person, takes my ticket and writes down a platform no. She too demanded a tip but by now I was wary so declined and got given some choice words. Turned out to not be the train or correct platform. Rome Termini is chaotic and there are insufficient legal helpers. Buying tickets online is definitely a safer option.
