I was traveling in Spain and spent a few days in Barcelona
. I decided to head to Las Ramblas, a popular market and area for tourists. It was night time and I was with a few friends. This part of Barcelona is very noisy and festive with a lot to see and shop for. While walking through the streets, I was approached by a young guy selling this little 'glow in the dark' toys which you launch into the air.
As they fly into the air, it is difficult not to look up and watch the incredible way they spin through the air. As I was looking at him repeatedly launching these glowing toys, a second guy reached into my bag and stole my cellphone. I felt something tug on my way and took little notice until I decided to just double check my cellphone was still in my bag. By the time I realised it was gone, both young guys had disappeared. After speaking to a few more locals, it became clear that the pickpockets and the guys selling the distracting toys, work in a syndicate to steal valuables off tourists. Always watch your handbags and pockets in Barcelona.
