When I was visiting the Winter Palace in St. Petersburg, Russia I saw a few people dressed up in vintage clothing as historical figures.
Intrigued by their attire I stepped closer for a better look. They insisted that I take photos with them. I would like to state that I have taken photos with people in costumes before all across Europe.
It has always been a tip-as-you-like arrangement and I’ve graciously put 1-2 euros per photo-op.
I went ahead and took a photo but after that, these people started asking for 1000 rubles (which is roughly 14 euros).
I ended up paying the amount which was demanded because I did not want to get into any trouble or cause a scene.
