How it works: Scam travel agencies sell you extra luxurious, all-inclusive hotel packages that are NON-REFUNDABLE. Once you get there, you soon find out that most things on the package list do not exist and you are stuck at a 1 star hotel.
Set-up: The travel agency gives you a great discounted price but says the deal is non-refundable. All the photographs of the hotel amenities, restaurant and rooms are either fake or extremely old.
We reserved a non-refundable holiday package at the Labranda Seferihisar, located by the beautiful Aegean Sea close to Izmir. I have to mention that the crystal sea and surrounding natural habitat was dreamy. Olive and tangerine trees are all around. But the hotel was nothing as listed on the travel agency told us.
Food was all-inclusive but impossible to eat. It was unbelievable how someone could cook this terrible. Salad servings, cheese plates looked like they were put here last season, almost nothing was fresh. We could not even eat the bread as it was extremely stale. Tea was salty, tasted like sea water.
They served honey (fake) in small packages, and it said on the label that “This is glucose syrup with honey flavor”.
So, we had to eat outside 3 times a day. They served alcoholic drinks for free but I drank 3 beers, 2 tequila shots, 1 martini, 1 baileys and nothing happened. I am not an alcoholic but I wanted to know why I cannot get drunk even if I drink all the booze served at the hotel. I think they serve watered down drinks, cause I rarely drink.
Rooms were not clean either. And you should not jump on the bed since dust comes up real bad. This was supposed to be a luxurious holiday deal!
When and where did it take place: İzmir, Turkey, October 2017
How to avoid: Never buy NON-REFUNDABLE hotel packages.
