Visiting Times Square was a priority for us because some US films were shot there. It’s filled with popular retailers and there’s something captivating with its bright lights.
As we walked through the strip, we were amused with the mascots and famous characters roaming around. Some of them blend in nicely in Times Square. Meanwhile, some definitely look out of place. I saw an Iron Man with a nicely made costume so I couldn’t resist having a photo taken with it. I know that we’ll have to give a tip to the man in the costume and I don’t mind.
So I approached the Iron Man guy, we had a photo together then Captain America who appears to be a friend of the guy in a costume made a hand sign to my mom of one more photo. My mom took a photo and then after giving Iron Man his tip, Captain America was demanding a tip as well. I told him that he was the one who wanted to join the photo so I don’t want to give him a tip.
My mom took my hand so we could walk away but Captain America followed us and was starting to pester us. I then told him that I’ll just delete the photo in front of him so he’ll stop. And my mom told him if he doesn’t stop, we’ll complain to the NYPD.
Good thing as we said that a family of I think Vietnamese/ Chinese nationality asked to have a photo with him. So we hurriedly walk away.
I recommend not to have your photos taken with the mascots or famous characters unless you are prepared to shell out extra tips to mascot/ famous characters photobombers.
