How it works:
- Opening: a well-dressed man who speaks English approaches you while in his car to ask for directions. He then asks where you from and claim to have a relative there too!
- Set-up: next, he claims is a manager at Giorgio Armani/Versace/Calvin Klein and proceeds to show some coats which he claims are the latest designs of the season. He then passes you a coat (a cheap knockoff) to thank you for telling him the directions. However, as his car is low on petrol, he asks if you can spare him some money ranging from €50 to €200!
Places to beware:
- Rome: Colosseum, Termini station
What to do:
- Decline. If it is too good to be true, it is.
