What to do:

  • If something is too cheap to be true, it is. Learn how to separate the wheat from the chaff, or only visit licensed, reputable shops.

On Central Market Hall one man decided that I should buy a fake paint picture of some local “great man”. We shouted on me, told me that this is a genius work and I am a silly girl and don’t understand that ? That was a funny moment of scam ?

While on a short city break in Budapest, my friends, a married couple walked in a jewelry. They saw a necklace that they sort of liked, but they were not too serious about buying, The sales lady was very kind and tried to convince them to buy it.It was not cheap at all. They were trying to leave, but she was persistent, and she said that she would do them a favor. She would call her boss on the phone to negotiate a better price for them.

After the phone call she was smiling and said that she has managed to lower the price by 30%for them, because they really liked the necklace. My friends still didn’t want to buy, and then she started saying that she can’t tell her boss now that they didn’t want to buy, after she has convinced him to drop the price, that she might lose her job…

My friends got really annoyed and left. This is the oldest trick in the salesman book. Try to convince the potential customer that he owes you something.
