How it works:
- Opening: a smartly-dressed Italian man in his car approaches to ask for directions to the airport.
- Version 1: he claims to be a manager at Giorgio Armani, and has leftover suits from the latest fashion show. To thank you, wants to give it to you for free. If you accept, he will then ask for £50 for him to get petrol to the airport.
- Version 2: to thank you, he is willing to sell them to you at one third the price. He even provides a receipt which he claims you can return for a refund. The receipt is of course a fake, and the jackets are cheap knockoffs.
Places to beware:
- London: St James’s Park
- Manchester: Hulme Street
What to do:
- Decline. If it is too good to be true, it is.
