How it works:
- Situation: to visit religious sites, you need to dress modestly, i.e. cover knees, shoulders, upper arms, chest.
- Set-up: however, shawl/scarf sellers will tell you that your attire is not “modest” enough even if it is. This is to get you to buy a shawl or scarf at an inflated price.
- Jerusalem: Western Wall, Temple Mount
What to do:
- To be safe, you can cover up your legs and neck too, or simply bring a shawl around. If in doubt, check with the staff instead of with touts.
