How it works:
- Situation: it is estimated that there are ~500,000 beggars in India.
- Set-up: like in Cambodia, there are child beggars or women with a (rented) child who beg for milk and pens. They bring you to a store to buy one at an inflated price, then return it to the store for cash.
Places to beware:
- Anywhere (e.g. Mumbai: Gateway of India, Colaba; Kolkata: Mother House; Chennai; New Delhi, Hyderabad, Hampi, etc)
What to do:
- Do not give, as any money given will go towards sustaining human trafficking cartels. If you want to help, donate to established charities instead.
